Acetylene

The number one choice for general welding, cutting and repair applications. Acetylene is the hottest and most efficient fuel gas on the market, making it the preferred product for many applications. It is also the only fuel gas hot enough to weld steel, when using our oxygen and acetylene together, flame temperatures can reach an amazing 3500°C (6330°F). You will typically use between 2 to 3 times the amount of oxygen as you would acetylene so don’t let the smaller size of our cylinder put you off. Using a number 5 welding nozzle with this gas canister will typically provide over 5 ½ hours of welding time. Acetylene is becoming increasingly difficult to source for the small user. Hobbyweld now have the rent free answer!

Hobbyweld 5 Original Welding Gas

A popular shielding gas, ideally suited for MIG welding, in particular sheet metal and thin sections of mild steel under 7mm in thickness, such as car bodywork and light sheet work. Hobbyweld 5 is a unique blend of Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen gas mix (often referred to as a tri-mix or an argon shield); it is very easy to use and provides a sound weld at very little cost. This gas mix offers a great number of benefits over using straight carbon dioxide for welding; it decreases the chances of porosity, welding spatter and oxidation. Hobbyweld 5 is our number one vehicle restoration gas and is a favoured mix with customers restoring classic cars and motorcycles. In short Hobbyweld 5 is a rent free welding gas cylinder with a number of benefits, it’s easy to see why it is the fastest selling gas in our range.

Specification

  • Gas Pressure: 137 bar / 2000 psi
  • Gas Capacity: 1.34 cubic metres
  • Water Capacity: 9 litres

Hobbyweld 5 Ultra Welding Gas

The Hobbyweld 5 Ultra cylinder is perfect for welding mild steel under 7mm, combined with the increased gas capacity of the Ultra cylinder makes it ideal for much larger projects. Users of this tri-mix will see improved results over straight carbon dioxide as its cleaner, faster and much higher quality. Hobbyweld 5 is the best selling gas we produce as its range of application starts from small jobs around the house up to full scale car restoration jobs. This gas would not be out of place in a garage or bodyshop.

Hobbyweld 15 Original Welding Gas

A specially formulated Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen gas mix (often referred to as a tri-mix or argon shield) which can be used in a number of welding positions. The name comes from the 15% carbon dioxide content; the extra CO2 gives this gas the capability of MIG welding carbon steels up to 18mm in thickness. Welders will experience good arc stability and a broad heat which is due in part to the 2% oxygen content. The combined benefits of good welding performance and minimal spatter make it very popular among the agricultural, on-site and mobile welding market. The wide operating range makes Hobbyweld 15 the best choice for structural steel work, medium gauge plate and general fabrication.

Specification

  • Gas Pressure: 137 bar / 1987 psi
  • Gas Capacity: 1.40 cubic metres
  • Water Capacity: 9 litres

Hobbyweld 15 Ultra Welding Gas

This trimix shielding gas is great for heavier gauges of steel and is often used in engineering facilities for general metal fabrication. The increased percentage of carbon dioxide in this mixture allows you to weld up to 18mm in steel thickness. You will find this gas easy to use and with the built in regulator of the Ultra cylinder, you’ll find it just as easy to adjust your flow rate. The push fit system makes it an ideal choice if you’re out on the road and working on-site a lot as it takes literally seconds to connect. If you’re gas welding heavy duty jobs, this is the cylinder for you!

Pure Argon TIG Welding Gas

Generally used when TIG welding stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium it can also be used on a MIG welder for aluminium and alloys in conjunction with the correct MIG wire. Argon is typically suitable for most TIG welding applications providing a capability of welding at any depth. The repair of alloy wheels, farming equipment, vehicle body panels, model work and metals used for aircraft are among many of Argons popular uses; however it is also used in many applications that you wouldn’t expect, such as filling the gap between your double glazing and the space in a light bulbs. The Hobbyweld argon cylinder is filled with high purity, high quality gas, enabling us to boast a minimum purity of 99.995%, giving you the best possible results.

Specification

  • Gas Pressure: 137 bar / 1987 psi
  • Gas Capacity: 1.32 cubic metres
  • Water Capacity: 9 litres

Argon Ultra TIG Welding Gas

If you own a TIG welder and you’re looking to weld a wide range of materials the high purity argon is a great place to start (combined with the correct consumables, you can also use argon on a MIG welder). Depending on your chosen application, if you’re a long time user of Argon, you may know that it can be consumed quite quickly the high capacity of the Ultra cylinder means you no longer need to worry about running out mid job, the contents gauge also means you can keep a track of your consumption.

Specification

  • Gas Pressure: 300 bar / 4350 psi
  • Gas Capacity: 6.06 cubic metres
  • Water Capacity: 20 litres

Oxygen

This gas is commonly and traditionally used with a fuel gas (propane, acetylene or propylene) for cutting, welding, brazing and soldering. Oxygen supports the combustion of these gases and enables a much higher flame temperature to be achieved in comparison with air. Our oxygen cylinders are filled from a bulk tank which ensures optimum purity, a 1% reduction in purity can increase consumption of oxygen by 20% or more, so you can see the benefits of a professionally filled gas bottle. Combine this gas bottle with our Hobbyweld acetylene cylinder for the perfect portable rent free gas welding kit.

Specification

  • Gas Pressure: 137 bar / 1987 psi
  • Gas Capacity: 1.33 cubic metres
  • Water Capacity: 9 litres

Oxygen Ultra

The Ultra oxygen cylinder is perfect for the professional user, it’s huge capacity and contents gauge means you’re much less likely to run out over that busy weekend. Combined with a fuel gas there are so many applicationsyou can perform cutting steel, soldering brass, welding steel the list goes on. Generally there is a heavy consumption of oxygen used in cutting gas applications and you will find this cylinder will more than suit your needs.
